For shoppers, the useful distinction is between a styling update and a mechanical one. The hybrid-system change deserves a test drive; a new paint choice alone is a matter of preference.
Powertrain and size: two different hybrid choices
Toyota’s 2027 specifications list 236 combined horsepower for the 2.5-liter hybrid in XLE and Limited. Platinum pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter hybrid with a six-speed automatic and produces 340 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard. The regular hybrid uses an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission.
The sedan measures 196.1 inches long, 72.4 inches wide and 60.6 inches tall, with a 112.2-inch wheelbase and 5.8 inches of ground clearance. Toyota lists 40 mpg combined for XLE and Limited versus 30 mpg for Platinum. That makes Platinum a performance decision rather than the obvious choice for someone focused on fuel use.
Limited gains useful parking and traffic technology
Limited now includes a panoramic camera system, Traffic Jam Assist capability and Digital Key capability. Connected features may require an active trial or subscription. A camera that helps position a large sedan in a tight parking space is a more practical upgrade than a badge or trim accent.
