The 2027 Hyundai Ioniq 5 carries over with a few equipment changes that matter when you compare trims. Roof rails reach more models, but the integrated HomeLink garage-door control moves in the other direction: it is now reserved for Limited.

Hyundai also changes how it offers the cargo cover and removes two matte paint colors. Here is what changes, what stays and how the electric SUV’s range and price vary across the lineup.

Roof rails expand, while HomeLink becomes Limited-only

According to Hyundai’s 2027 change sheet, roof side rails become standard on SEL and higher trims. Previously, they were limited to XRT and Limited. That gives SEL buyers a useful addition, although carrying equipment on the roof still requires the appropriate accessories and observing load limits.

HomeLink, previously included on SEL and above, is now Limited-only. The cargo cover, previously standard on Limited, becomes an available accessory. Gravity Gold Matte and Sage Silver Matte leave the paint lineup. Hyundai does not give a reason for those changes, and this is a carryover model rather than a redesign.

Battery and drivetrain choices determine the range

SE Standard Range uses a 63-kWh battery and a rear motor rated at 168 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Its EPA-estimated range is 245 miles. Moving to the 84-kWh battery brings rear-wheel-drive output to 225 horsepower, with the same torque rating and up to 318 miles of EPA-estimated range.

Dual-motor all-wheel-drive models deliver 320 horsepower and 446 pound-feet. Range depends on the trim: SE and SEL are rated at 290 miles, Limited at 269 miles and XRT at 259 miles. Those are EPA estimates; weather, speed, tires and other conditions affect actual results.

XRT adds all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, distinct exterior trim and a 23-mm suspension lift with unique tuning. It is the more trail-oriented choice, while the long-range rear-drive versions provide the highest published range.

A long wheelbase, five seats and NACS charging

The Ioniq 5 measures 183.3 inches long and 74.4 inches wide, with a 118.1-inch wheelbase. Its five-seat cabin has a flat floor, and Hyundai lists 26.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. The rear seats split, fold, recline and slide, giving owners flexibility between passenger comfort and carrying space.

A native NACS port supports compatible Tesla Superchargers, and Hyundai includes a CCS adapter for other compatible DC charging stations. The SUV also supports 800-volt charging. Charger capability and battery conditions matter, so the presence of a compatible plug alone does not guarantee the fastest charging speed.

2027 Hyundai Ioniq 5 prices start at $35,250

Hyundai lists starting MSRPs of $35,250 for SE Standard Range, $37,750 for SE and $40,200 for SEL. Limited starts at $45,225, while the all-wheel-drive XRT starts at $46,525. These figures exclude freight, taxes, fees and options; adding all-wheel drive to an eligible rear-drive trim changes the price.

The SE costs $2,500 more than SE Standard Range at those starting prices and adds 73 miles of EPA-estimated range in rear-drive form. SEL is the new entry point for roof rails, but buyers who want factory-integrated HomeLink must step up to Limited. Those distinctions are worth checking on the specific vehicle’s window sticker.

Hyundai’s U.S. model page currently says the 2027 Ioniq 5 is sold only in select states. Check local availability before treating the listed configuration and price as an in-stock choice.
