The 2027 Kia Carnival adds more ways to configure its second row, while keeping both V6 and hybrid choices on the menu. Families should pay particular attention to seating packages: the updates broaden some options but narrow access to rear-seat entertainment.

More seating choices and a wider Dark Edition lineup
Second-row captain’s chairs are newly available on the EX and SX. Kia also expands the Dark Edition package to the EX, adds Iceberg Green paint on EX, SX and SX Prestige models, and drops Flare Red.
There is a trade-off for families shopping rear entertainment: Kia says the system is now limited to the Hybrid SX Prestige equipped with VIP Lounge Seats. According to Kia’s 2027 announcement, the seating and equipment changes are the main updates. If a specific second-row layout or built-in screens are essential, confirm that combination before choosing a trim.
V6 or hybrid: compare the powertrain and fuel use
The gas Carnival uses a 3.5-liter V6 producing about 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, with an eight-speed automatic. Kia lists estimated fuel economy of 18 city, 26 highway and 21 combined mpg.
The Carnival Hybrid combines a 1.6-liter engine and electric assistance for approximately 242 horsepower and 271 pound-feet, with a six-speed automatic. Its listed estimate is 34 city, 31 highway and 32 combined mpg. The hybrid therefore gives up some peak horsepower while offering more combined torque and substantially better listed city efficiency.
Size and cargo: measure your garage and check the seats
The Carnival is 203 inches long and 78.5 inches wide without the mirrors, expanding to 89.2 inches with them. Its wheelbase measures 121.7 inches. That nearly 17-foot length is worth checking against your garage before a test drive.
Kia’s gas-model specification sheet lists cargo volume from 40.2 to 145.1 cubic feet. The largest figure describes a maximum cargo configuration, not the space available with every passenger seat in use. Different seating packages also change how easily you can reconfigure the cabin. Prices: the hybrid premium is $2,000 at matching trims
The V6 LX starts at $37,490, or $39,035 with Kia’s $1,545 destination fee. Hybrid pricing begins with the LXS at $41,490 before destination. Comparing equivalent trims, the hybrid adds $2,000: the V6 LXS is $39,490, EX is $41,690, SX is $46,590 and SX Prestige is $51,590. Taxes, options and other fees are additional.
Here is an illustrative way to assess that premium. At 12,000 miles per year and $3.50 per gallon, the listed combined ratings of 21 and 32 mpg imply approximately $688 less annual fuel spending with the hybrid. That would recover $2,000 in about 2.9 years. Actual mileage, fuel prices and the deal you negotiate will change that calculation, but it is a more useful starting point than assuming the lowest purchase price always costs the least over time.
