The 2027 Lexus NX will come only as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, and the plug-in version adds standard DC fast charging. Those are the biggest changes in an update that also brings revised styling, a redesigned cabin and a standard 14-inch touchscreen.
Lexus estimates more than 40 miles of electric range for select NX 450h+ plug-in grades. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a final EPA rating. Prices, complete specifications and detailed U.S. on-sale information are still pending.
Hybrid-only powertrains, with a faster-charging plug-in
The planned lineup consists of NX 350h hybrid and NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid models. Each powertrain will offer Premium, Premium+, F Sport and Luxury grades. The regular hybrid’s Premium and Premium+ versions offer front-wheel or all-wheel drive; F Sport and Luxury are AWD-only. Every plug-in hybrid has AWD.
Lexus says the revised plug-in battery increases both capacity and output by 8%. It also sits lower, with a different cell arrangement intended to help body rigidity and lower the center of gravity. An updated drive unit combines the transaxle, electric motor and power electronics in a smaller package.
DC fast charging and a powered charge-port door are standard on the plug-in. However, Lexus has not supplied the charging rate or a charging-time estimate in its announcement. The range claim alone cannot tell buyers how quickly a public charger will replenish the battery.
A bigger standard screen and changes beneath the body
All grades receive a 14-inch center display, a 12.3-inch instrument display and an integrated drive recorder that uses exterior cameras to save video clips. Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 is standard. Luxury and F Sport can add Sensory Concierge, which coordinates cabin lighting, sound, climate settings and fragrance.
Body, suspension and exterior updates
The changes also reach the NX’s unibody structure, including additional reinforcement and a new floor crossmember. Lexus revised the steering system, suspension tuning and brake controls. These are engineering changes the company says will improve response and comfort; their real-world effect will require a drive.
Exterior updates include revised lighting, more black trim and new colors. Shaded Ivy joins the palette, while Incognito becomes available on F Sport. The latter also receives its own exterior details and 20-inch wheels.
What buyers still need to know
Lexus has not yet published the new model’s U.S. prices, final EPA ratings or a complete set of power and cargo specifications in this release. Previous-model figures should not be treated as confirmed 2027 specifications.
The announcement targets availability across global markets by the end of 2026, rather than giving a specific U.S. delivery date. Buyers deciding between the hybrid and plug-in should wait for local pricing, final range and charging details before estimating whether the plug-in’s extra electric driving will justify its cost.
