The 2027 VW ID. Buzz Tourer gives Volkswagen’s electric bus a job beyond hauling the family: it comes with equipment for sleeping in the van. A folding bed, privacy blinds and camping furniture are part of a new trim that joins the U.S. lineup after Volkswagen skipped the 2026 model year.
There are useful changes for everyday drivers, too. Physical steering-wheel buttons return, and Volkswagen adds new software and one-pedal driving. Here is what the company has confirmed in its 2027 U.S. lineup announcement. Photos below show the 2025 ID. Buzz for reference, rather than the new Tourer equipment.
The 2027 VW ID. Buzz Tourer includes a sleeping setup

The Tourer borrows the idea behind Volkswagen’s European Good Night Package. Its equipment includes a fold-out mattress and support platform, window blinds, ventilation panels for the front windows, and an outdoor table and chairs. Overnight Mode adjusts vehicle functions for a stay inside the van.
It starts with the Pro S 4Motion and adds a retractable hitch, second-row captain’s chairs, an electrochromic glass roof, Area View cameras and 20-inch wheels. That makes it a factory-equipped option for occasional overnight trips. Volkswagen’s announcement does not describe a full kitchen or bathroom, so shoppers should distinguish this sleeping package from a complete camper conversion.
Physical buttons and updated software reach every trim

The steering wheel gets hard buttons across the 2027 range. That is a practical detail for shoppers who prefer a distinct control they can locate by touch. The photos here show the previous model year and should not be used to identify the updated controls.
Volkswagen also adds its Android-based ID.S 6 infotainment software, with revised navigation and vehicle-settings screens. A one-year In-Vehicle Premium trial brings an app store with offerings such as YouTube and Spotify. Buyers should check subscription costs after the trial before treating connected services as permanent included equipment.
The model-year announcement also lists enhanced Travel Assist lane-change assistance and an Emergency Assist function designed to move an unresponsive driver’s vehicle toward the right shoulder and stop. These remain assistance systems requiring attentive driving, rather than permission to disengage from the road.
Electric powertrain and size: what is confirmed

The 2027 trim list is Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Tourer 4Motion and Pro S Plus 4Motion. The Tourer therefore uses all-wheel drive, while rear-wheel drive remains available at the entry point. Volkswagen confirms one-pedal driving and a NACS charging adapter, but its lineup release does not supply final 2027 horsepower or EPA range figures.
For scale, Volkswagen’s 2025 AWD technical sheet lists 335 horsepower and a 91-kWh gross battery, with 86 kWh usable. That van measures 195.4 inches long and 78.1 inches wide without mirrors, on a 127.5-inch wheelbase. Those are previous-model reference figures, not verified 2027 Tourer specifications.
Colors change, while pricing still needs confirmation

Volkswagen is simplifying the paint selection to two-tone combinations. A new Candy White over Cherry Red scheme pairs with white wheels, while the top trim can be ordered with 21-inch wheels. The Tourer’s camping equipment gives buyers a more substantial reason to compare trims than paint alone.
The 2027 announcement does not provide ID. Buzz pricing or a model-specific delivery date. Volkswagen’s consumer page still presents the 2025 model, so its advertised price should not be treated as the Tourer’s starting price. Before ordering, compare the final 2027 price, range rating and included equipment against how often you would actually use the overnight setup.
