The 2027 Kia K5 has a shorter trim list and a lower published power rating for its standard engine. Kia’s U.S. website now shows LXS, GT-Line and GT, with the comfort-focused EX no longer included. The starting MSRP is $27,690 before destination and other charges.

That leaves an important choice for sedan shoppers: the GT-Line offers available all-wheel drive, while the more powerful GT remains front-wheel drive. Here is how the 2027 Kia K5 specifications compare with the previous model year and what to watch when choosing a trim.

The LXS starts at $27,690, the GT-Line at $28,690 and the GT at $33,790. Those are Kia’s advertised starting MSRPs, excluding destination, taxes, options and dealer charges. The GT-Line starting figure is for front-wheel drive; choosing AWD raises the purchase price.

Kia’s 2026 specification chart included an EX alongside those three trims. Its absence for 2027 matters if you were shopping for a well-equipped K5 without the GT’s turbocharged powertrain. Compare the actual option packages instead of assuming a GT-Line automatically replaces every EX feature.

The LXS retains a useful basic equipment list: 16-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a smart key, push-button start and remote start. GT-Line adds its own styling, 18-inch wheels, navigation, SynTex upholstery, heated front seats and a power driver’s seat.

Standard engine output changes; GT keeps 290 horsepower

Kia lists the 2027 LXS and GT-Line at 186 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque from a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Both use an eight-speed automatic. The published 2026 figures were 191 horsepower and 181.5 pound-feet, making this a five-horsepower reduction in the listed rating.

The official pages do not explain that difference, so there is no basis here to attribute it to a particular emissions change or mechanical revision. Shoppers comparing model years should use the current specifications rather than older dealer copy.

The GT keeps a turbocharged 2.5-liter rated at 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet, paired with an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It also includes sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof. AWD is offered on GT-Line only, so the strongest engine and four-wheel traction are separate choices.

Fuel economy, passenger room and trunk space

Kia lists EPA estimates of 26 mpg city, 37 highway and 30 combined for the LXS. The front-drive GT-Line is rated at 25/36/29 mpg, while the AWD version is 23/33/27. The GT also lists 23/33/27 mpg. Actual economy varies with conditions and driving.

All three trims seat five. The K5 measures 193.1 inches long and 73.2 inches wide, with a 112.2-inch wheelbase. Rear legroom is listed at 35.2 inches, and the trunk holds 15.6 cubic feet. Check rear-seat comfort with your usual passengers, especially if tall front occupants or child seats are part of your daily routine.

Choose equipment by package, not just the badge

A 12.3-inch touchscreen is part of the entry model, while Kia offers a larger combined display arrangement and additional technology on selected configurations. Its comparison chart reserves available surround-view and blind-spot-view cameras for the GT. Digital Key 2.0 is likewise listed as available on GT, rather than across the range.

The GT-Line remains the AWD choice and a way to get heated seats and upgraded styling without paying for the turbo engine. The GT suits buyers prioritizing power and its available technology packages.
