The 2027 Nissan Sentra gets revised transmission tuning, an available Qi2 wireless charger and a new $650 Midnight Edition package for the SR. These are updates to the compact sedan redesigned for 2026, with the same basic four-trim lineup and 2.0-liter engine.
The starting price is $24,165 including Nissan’s $1,275 destination charge. A Sentra SR with the Midnight package starts at $26,915 on the same basis, before extra-cost paint, other options, taxes and fees. Here is what changes—and what buyers still get underneath the new black trim.
Revised CVT tuning, familiar engine

Nissan says the updated Xtronic continuously variable transmission delivers smoother, more linear acceleration and a crisper response to the accelerator. That describes a change in driving behavior; the announcement does not establish a durability improvement or claim a different transmission type.
Every trim still uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive and the CVT are standard, and the engine uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Midnight package does not add horsepower.
Nissan lists EPA ratings of 30 mpg city, 38 highway and 33 combined for S and SV. The sportier SR is rated at 29 city, 36 highway and 32 combined. Those figures give budget shoppers another difference to weigh alongside equipment and sticker price.
What the $650 Midnight package adds

Midnight Edition builds on the SR with gloss-black 18-inch alloy wheels, black window trim, black exterior badging and a Midnight badge. The package also includes a Super Black roof with the available two-tone finishes. It is an appearance package attached to an existing trim, rather than a new performance model.
The underlying SR already brings sport cloth upholstery with contrast stitching and its own exterior detailing. Buyers who prefer that equipment but want the darker finish can add Midnight for $650; buyers focused on the lowest cost can stay with S or SV and keep the same advertised engine output.
Cabin technology reaches beyond the base touchscreen

A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are standard. The available matching 12.3-inch digital instrument display creates the wide dual-screen arrangement shown in Nissan’s photos, but that second screen is not standard across the lineup.
Qi2 wireless charging joins the available equipment for 2027. Other available features include an eight-speaker Bose audio system, ambient lighting and ProPILOT Assist. The latter is a driver-assistance system that requires the driver to remain attentive and keep hands on the wheel.
Equipment varies by trim and package. For example, Nissan lists ProPILOT Assist as standard on SL and includes it in the SR Premium Package. Choosing the Midnight appearance package alone does not mean every optional cabin or assistance feature is included.
Prices, size and everyday space

Including destination, the four core trims start at $24,165 for S, $24,865 for SV, $26,265 for SR and $29,265 for SL. SV is $700 above S, while SL adds $3,000 over a regular SR. The SR Midnight combination slots between them at $26,915 before other options.
The five-seat Sentra measures 183.3 inches long, 71.5 inches wide and 57.1 inches tall, with a 106.5-inch wheelbase. Nissan lists 44 inches of front legroom, 34.8 inches in the rear and a 14.3-cubic-foot trunk. A split-folding rear seat provides room for longer items.
For 2027, the decision centers on equipment, appearance and whether the revised CVT behavior suits the buyer. The new package changes the look without changing the engine; moving between trims changes the cabin and convenience features.
