The 2027 Lexus RX brings a small styling update, but its price list contains a more useful detail for shoppers: the regular hybrid costs just $700 more than the comparable all-wheel-drive gas model in Premium trim.
That comparison matters because the lowest advertised gas price is for front-wheel drive. Here is how the 2027 changes, four powertrains and trim prices fit together.
What changes for the 2027 Lexus RX
The update is modest. Lexus adds optional red front and rear brake calipers to F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance models. The RX continues across Premium, Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Design, F SPORT Handling and F SPORT Performance grades, with availability depending on the powertrain.
That makes this a year to compare the configurations carefully rather than expect a complete redesign. Lexus says the 2027 models should reach dealerships later in fall 2026. Its official model-year announcement includes the new pricing and equipment details.
Four powertrains serve different priorities
The RX 350 pairs a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic. Output is 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The RX 350h uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system rated at 246 total horsepower and comes with AWD.
Drivers who can charge at home also have the RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. Lexus lists an EPA-estimated 38 miles of electric-only range and 85 MPGe combined. MPGe is an energy-equivalence rating, so it should not be read as 85 miles per gallon of gasoline after the battery’s usable electric range is depleted.
The plug-in has a J1772 charging port, a standard dual-voltage cable and a 6.6-kW onboard charger. Lexus quotes roughly 2.5 hours for a full charge under ideal conditions with a suitable 240-volt supply. At the performance end, the RX 500h combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine and electric motors for 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet, using a six-speed automatic and DIRECT4 AWD.
Size and cabin features remain familiar
The RX measures 192.5 inches long on a 112.2-inch wheelbase. Lexus continues with its GA-K platform, front struts and a multi-link rear suspension. The battery in the regular 350h hybrid sits below the rear seat.
A 12.3-inch driver-information display and wireless phone charging are standard across the lineup. Depending on the trim and options, buyers can add heated and ventilated rear seats and power folding for the 40/20/40-split rear seat. Six USB ports are provided throughout the vehicle.
F SPORT Performance includes a panoramic glass moonroof and a 14-inch central touchscreen. Available adaptive suspension and rear-wheel steering add hardware beyond the appearance changes, so compare F SPORT Design, Handling and Performance equipment rather than treating those badges as interchangeable.
Compare AWD gas and hybrid prices before deciding
All prices below include Lexus’s $1,550 delivery, processing and handling charge. The RX 350 Premium starts at $55,450 with front-wheel drive or $57,050 with AWD. The RX 350h Premium AWD starts at $57,750. That is a $700 hybrid premium when both vehicles have AWD, or $2,300 compared with the front-drive gas version.
The same $700 difference appears in the published Premium+ and Luxury AWD prices: $60,540 versus $61,240 for Premium+, and $65,595 versus $66,295 for Luxury. Buyers should compare similarly equipped vehicles and local selling prices before calculating a fuel-savings payback.
The plug-in RX 450h+ starts at $66,880 in Premium or $73,510 in Luxury. The RX 500h F SPORT Performance begins at $68,950. The regular hybrid’s small price step makes it worth considering first; the plug-in and performance hybrid require a larger investment for their different capabilities.
