The all-new 2027 Kia EV3 gives U.S. buyers another small electric SUV with a starting MSRP below $30,000. It also offers up to 321 miles of range—but those two headlines describe different versions.
Here is what the base model includes, what the longer-range version costs, and the charging and size figures to know.
Starting price and longest range belong to different trims
The Light FWD starts at $29,890 before Kia’s $1,495 destination fee, bringing its delivered starting MSRP to $31,385. The Wind FWD starts at $34,990, or $36,485 including destination. Taxes, options and other fees are additional.
That $5,100 step brings the larger battery and the 321-mile listed range. Buyers who mainly make short local trips may not need the bigger pack; frequent longer-distance drivers should compare the extra purchase cost with how often the smaller battery would require another charging stop. Kia’s U.S. pricing announcement also lists AWD versions and a $45,890 GT, before destination.
Powertrain and battery: 221 miles or up to 321 miles
Kia’s 2027 specifications give the Light a 58.3-kWh battery and 221 miles of range. The Wind FWD and Land FWD use an 81.4-kWh pack and list 321 miles. All three front-drive configurations produce 201 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque.
The GT reaches 288 horsepower, but shoppers should not apply the front-drive models’ best range figure to every trim. Weather, speed and wheel choices can change real-world results. The useful comparison is the exact configuration you are considering, rather than combining the lineup’s lowest price, highest output and longest range into one imaginary vehicle.
Charging: NACS is standard, but charger output is not vehicle output
The U.S. EV3 has a built-in NACS charging port. Kia quotes a 10–80% DC fast charge in approximately 29 minutes for the Light and 31 minutes for the larger-battery models under its specified test conditions, using a 350-kW charger.
That charger rating does not mean the EV3 accepts 350 kW. Battery temperature, charge level and the station all affect charging speed. The specification sheet lists an 11.5-kW onboard AC charger, so home-charging capability is also worth checking before purchase. Kia includes a battery heater and offers a heat pump on AWD configurations.
Size and cargo space: a small SUV with a usable rear compartment
The front-drive EV3 measures 169.3 inches long and 72.8 inches wide, with a 105.5-inch wheelbase. Rear legroom is listed at 37.4 inches. This puts the emphasis on a manageable exterior footprint rather than three-row family hauling.
With the cargo floor in its lower position, Kia lists 26.1 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 56.5 with them folded. Raising the floor reduces those figures to 21.5 and 51.9 cubic feet. For shoppers comparing it with larger electric SUVs, those dimensions deserve as much attention as the range headline: the right battery cannot make an undersized cargo area fit your everyday gear.
