I’ve spent years defending SUVs. They’re stylish, capable, and they don’t come with the same stereotypes as admitting you’ve become a minivan person. Then I spent time with the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica and found myself reconsidering my life choices.

Here’s the problem. Minivans are really, really good at family life. The Pacifica isn’t exciting in the traditional sense, but it makes the daily chaos of parenting a whole lot more manageable.

Sliding Doors Are Humanitarian Aid

There is no more stressful parking lot experience than watching a child fling open an SUV door while another car sits inches away. Time slows down as you watch that door fly through the air, silently begging it to stop before it connects with the car parked beside you.

Sliding doors eliminate that problem. Kids can climb in by themselves, you don’t have to wedge yourself into awkward positions to buckle car seats, and nobody is denting the car parked next to you. They may not look cool, but after a week of school drop-offs and grocery runs, you won’t care.

You can also move through the cabin without performing gymnastics around center consoles and fixed seats. Whether you’re passing snacks to the third row or helping someone find the toy they absolutely cannot live without for the next five minutes, that extra access makes life easier.

Stow ‘n Go Is Still The Gold Standard

Some features sound impressive the first time you hear about them and then fade into the background once you get home. Stow ‘n Go is not one of them.

The second-row seats fold right into the floor, letting you switch from hauling people to hauling stuff in minutes. When the seats are upright, those same storage wells become hidden compartments for backpacks, sports equipment, reusable shopping bags, and all the random stuff families seem to collect without explanation.

It’s such a practical solution that you start wondering why everyone else hasn’t figured this out yet. The fact that the storage space is useful whether the seats are up or down makes it one of those rare features that earns its keep every single day.

Somebody Clearly Had Kids

The Pacifica is full of little touches that suggest somebody involved in designing it had firsthand experience with family life. Either that, or they’d spent enough time around kids to know exactly where the biggest headaches happen.

There’s an available built-in vacuum, which sounds ridiculous until you remember that children somehow create messes faster than adults can clean them up. Crackers crumble, fruit snacks stick to everything, and crushed cereal ends up in places that defy explanation. Let’s also be honest and admit that Mom and Dad occasionally contribute to the mess, too.

The Pacifica also doesn’t expect families to travel light. It gives everyone somewhere to put their things and helps keep the cabin from turning into the rolling lost-and-found that so many family vehicles eventually become. It won’t stop your kids from bringing half their belongings along for the ride, but at least you’ll have somewhere to put them.

The Pinnacle Trim Knows Parents Deserve Nice Things

The Pinnacle is Chrysler’s reward for surviving years of dance recitals, soccer tournaments, and school concerts. It doesn’t feel like the penalty box for having children. It feels like Chrysler remembered parents spend a lot of time in this thing, too.

It also has little removable pillows for the second row. Your kids will immediately discover they’re perfect for bopping each other on the head, so I’d argue they’re better off relocated to the front seats where the adults can enjoy them instead.

Those little touches don’t change the fact that this is a minivan. They do make it feel like a minivan designed by people who understand that parents deserve to be comfortable, too.

Family Life Isn’t Cheap

The Pacifica isn’t cheap, but it also hasn’t drifted into crazy territory. Pricing starts at a little over $44,000, while the luxurious Pinnacle trim lands in the mid-$50,000 range.

Chrysler dropped the plug-in hybrid for 2026, which is disappointing because it offered families something unique. Even so, the gas-powered Pacifica is still really good at being a minivan. The V6 has plenty of power for everyday life, whether that’s merging onto the highway or hauling everyone to yet another weekend commitment.

Maybe We Owe Minivans An Apology

I still don’t know if I’ll ever describe myself as a minivan person. Old habits die hard, and SUVs have spent years convincing us they’re the cool choice for families.

But the Pacifica makes family life easier. It has room for people and all the stuff that comes with them, enough flexibility to adapt when plans change, and features that solve real problems. Somehow, we all forgot how good minivans are at doing exactly what they were designed to do.
