The 2026 BMW lineup marks a generational turning point for the brand, defined by the widespread rollout of a electric platform and a comprehensive refresh of its core combustion models.
Starting with Sedans and Coupes

The German brand has introduced its 2026 lineup. Starting with the 2026 BMW 3 Series, which is largely a carryover model following its 2025 refresh. The primary additions are standard digital key functionality and lane-keeping assistance across the lineup. A notable exclusive is the limited M340i xDrive 50 Jahre Edition (100 units in Canada), featuring special heritage paint colors, an M Performance exhaust, and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler to celebrate the model’s 50th anniversary.
BMW has also introduced the 2026 BMW M2 that received significant performance updates. Standard output increases by 20 hp to 473 hp, with automatic models gaining an additional 37 lb-ft of torque (total 443 lb-ft). The headline addition is the new M2 CS, a track-focused variant producing 523 hp with extensive carbon-fiber weight savings (97 lbs lighter), a unique ducktail spoiler, and retuned suspension. Interior updates include iDrive 8.5 and a standard digital key.
2026 BMW 4 Series Updates mirror the 3 Series, with the addition of a new Black Package for M Performance models (available with M Sport Package Pro) featuring carbon fiber interior details and exterior accents. The Tire Repair Kit Plus (Seal & Drive) becomes standard equipment on Coupe and Convertible models.
The BMW 5 Series sees functional improvements, specifically an increase in Level 2 charging speed for plug-in hybrid models (like the 550e) from 7.4 kW to 11 kW. All variants now standardize the Seal & Drive Tire Kit in place of a spare tire. For the high-performance M5, front/rear heated seats and front ventilated seats are now available as standalone options rather than requiring a package. A new Frozen Portimão Blue metallic paint color is added.
SUVs and Crossovers Also Change

The German brand also brings changes to the SUVs and Crossovers.
The 2026 BMW X3 following a full redesign from 2025, the 2026 BMW X3 is mostly unchanged but benefits from the standardization of the Tire Repair Kit Plus.
The plug-in hybrid variant retains its extended electric-only range introduced in the previous redesign.
The 2026 BMW X5 is a carryover from the 2025 mid-cycle refresh.
Electrical Models Also Get Updated

The most significant functional change, for electric models, is the AC charging speed increase for the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid from 7.4 kW to 11 kW, drastically reducing home charging times. Conversely, Gesture Control has been removed from the available features list. The X5 M Competition remains unchanged mechanically.
Electric iX1 and iX2 models receive new power electronics that reduce energy consumption and increase range. Specific efficiency gains are attributed to updated software and hardware integration in the drive units.
The 2026 BMW XM (including the Label variant) receives software calibration updates to prepare the powertrain for future Euro 7 emissions standards, though output figures remain unchanged.
The 2026 BMW i4 receives substantial updates. New silicon carbide (SiC) inverters improve efficiency, adding 12–15 miles of range to the eDrive40 (now up to 333 miles). The top-tier trim is renamed from M50 to i4 M60, with power increased by 56 hp to 593 hp (0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds). The eDrive35 trim has been removed from the lineup. Standard equipment now includes the Seal & Drive Tire Kit, and the Parking Assistant Professional package adds a Drive Recorder (dash cam).
BMW Xi Facelift

The BMW iX undergoes a facelift with simplified exterior styling, new vertical lighting elements, and revised bumper designs. The xDrive60 trim sees a range increase to 364 miles (EPA) and a power bump to 536 hp (0–60 mph in 4.4 seconds). Laser headlights have been replaced with more efficient LED units across the range. Interior software is updated to iDrive 8.5.
2026 BMW iX3 a new entry-level variant, the iX3 40, joins the lineup featuring Neue Klasse technology (Gen6 eDrive, 800-volt architecture). It produces 320 hp with a range of up to 637 km (WLTP). An AI-powered BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant debuts in this model. Heated rear seats become an available option.
