A recall of 86,543 Ford Mustang Mach E vehicles for rear side quarter glass trim that may detach.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. The rear side quarter window glass trim may be improperly secured, which can allow it to detach.
Affected VINs should be searchable now at the NHTSA website.

Descriptive Information
Ford’s team reviewed supplier process records to determine the population of affected vehicles. The Ford process is capable of tracing rear side quarter window glass production to the vehicle in which the rear quarter window glass assembly is installed.
These vehicles are not produced in VIN order. Information as to the applicability of this action to specific vehicles can best be obtained by either calling Ford’s toll-free line (1-866-436-7332) or by contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer who can obtain specific information regarding the vehicles from the Ford On-line Automotive Service Information System (OASIS) database.
Description of defect or noncompliance:
Rear side quarter window glass trim may detach from the vehicle while driving.
Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:
A detached rear side quarter window glass trim can create a road hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of crash.
Description of the cause:
Introduction of a new assembly jig at the supplier’s facility decreased the time required to install the trim piece to the quarter glass. With this decrease in installation time, there was insufficient time for a trim primer used during the assembly process to cure, resulting in an insufficient bond.
Identification of any warning that can occur:
Customers may notice the rear side quarter window glass trim is loose or not fully seated. Customers may also experience wind noise, squeak and/or rattle as they drive.
Chronology
On May 4, 2026, Ford’s Product Development Body Exterior team shared details of a spike in warranty claims citing loose or detached rear side quarter window glass trim pieces on 2023 to 2025 model year Mustang-Mach E vehicles with Ford Automotive Safety Office (ASO) team members. On May 12, 2026, Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG) opened an investigation into this concern.
From May to June 2026, the investigation team worked to understand the root cause of loose/detached parts and analyzed field performance during suspect production periods. Onset of the issue was traced to introduction of a new assembly jig at the supplier’s facility in February 2023, which decreased the time required to install the trim piece to the quarter glass. With this decrease in installation time, there was insufficient time for a trim primer used during the assembly process to cure, resulting in an insufficient bond. On September 28, 2024, the supplier implemented a permanent corrective action (PCA) consisting of a timer on the assembly jig that prevented trim installation until 30 seconds had elapsed to ensure adequate cure time.
On June 3, 2026, ASO team members provided a trim piece to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) for their review. NHTSA ODI informed Ford that they believed the trim piece could present a hazard to other road users based on sharpness of the trim piece edges.
In July 2026, Ford’s Global Data Insight and Analytics (GDI&A) team prepared projections for the investigation team to provide an understanding of potential for future occurrences over time.
As of July 21, 2026, Ford is aware of 219 reports of loose or detached trim pieces on vehicles produced for the U.S. and U.S Federal territories markets in the affected periods. These warranty claims were received between July 31, 2023, and April 20, 2026.
On July 21, 2026, Ford’s Field Review Committee (FRC) reviewed the concern and approved a field action.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Remedy Type: Inspect, Replace
Description of remedy program:
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the rear side quarter window glass trim inspected and/or replaced. There will be no charge for this service.
How remedy component differs from recalled component:
The remedied trim will be properly secured to rear side quarter window glass.
Description of recall schedule:
Notification to dealers is expected to occur on September 3, 2026. Mailing of interim owner notification letters is expected to begin September 10, 2026, and is expected to be completed by September 14, 2026. Mailing of remedy owner notification letters is expected to begin TBD and is expected to be completed by TBD. The date VINs are planned to be searchable is September 7, 2026.
