Dodge’s Roadkill Nights has started and with it comes the unveil of a bunch of new Mopar excitement. As expected, the Charger is getting a Super Bee edition unveiled, bringing the throwback nostalgia to the current edition of the muscle car. In a surprise twist from that, though,  Dodge also unveiled two factory drift cars to appeal to a younger audience in love with today’s motorsport. Finally, appearance packages for the Durango and others got some spotlight.

Our own Patrick Rall is there on site to bring exclusive photos and interviews, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Mopar is pushing hard and if there’s anyone in the world that’s more qualified to cover that first-hand than Patrick, we can’t name them.

Dodge has long been leaning hard into its muscle car heritage and this time it’s bringing back one of the brand’s most recognizable names. The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee arrives as a limited-production package built around the two-door SIXPACK-powered Charger. It takes the already potent coupe and turning the nostalgia dial up towards eleven.

The Super Bee Launch Edition packs the 600-horsepower Hurricane inline-six under the hood, making it the quickest and most powerful Super Bee Dodge has ever sold. That comes with an asterisk that will undoubtedly continue to fuel arguments at every Cars & Coffee gathering for the next decade. Yes, it’s an inline-six.

Visually, Dodge didn’t phone this one in. Buyers can choose from Sucker Punch yellow or Diamond Black paint, while the package adds a gloss-black hood patch, unique Sucker Punch striping extending from the hood’s SIXPACK bezel, Super Bee graphics, yellow Brembo brake calipers, and exclusive interior accents.

More importantly, Dodge says the package isn’t just cosmetic. The Super Bee is tuned for additional cooling, improved braking, and more repeatable performance, giving it a sharper edge whether it’s headed for a drag strip or terrorizing freeway on-ramps.

It’s another reminder that Dodge isn’t abandoning performance just because emissions rules have become increasingly complicated. Instead, it’s rewriting the formula, turbocharged inline-six and all.

Dodge Factory Drift Cars: Because Tire Smoke Sells Cars

If there was ever any doubt that Dodge understands its audience, consider this: instead of quietly parking the Charger at auto shows, it’s building factory-backed drift cars whose primary purpose is to obliterate rear tires in front of cheering crowds.

The company has partnered with Hemmings Director of Programming Mike Musto and fabricator Suppy Wejpanich of Suppy’s Garage to create two purpose-built Charger drift machines.

The first, nicknamed BOOST, starts life as a Dodge Charger Scat Pack but is transformed into a professional-spec drift machine built for competition. The second, appropriately called RPM (Rapid People Mover), is a four-door Charger engineered specifically to haul passengers sideways during demonstration rides.

It’s a clever marketing move. Dodge has always sold attitude as much as horsepower, and letting enthusiasts watch and experience a Charger sliding through clouds of tire smoke reinforces that image better than any glossy commercial ever could.

Sure, drifting isn’t exactly what classic Chargers were built to do. But if the point is getting people excited about modern performance cars, a little controlled oversteer is probably worth a few sets of rear tires in visuals alone.

New Appearance Packages Prove Paint Is Back in Style

Not every Dodge announcement has to involve another horsepower number. Sometimes color can be just as effective. It’s rare to make this note about the Dodge brand, but if names like Sucker Punch don’t prove it, maybe these new appearance packages will.

This new brand unveil is headlined by the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept, which uses a layered graphic treatment to emphasize the SUV’s muscular proportions while adding distinctive Petrol Blue Laguna leather seats inside.

Dodge is also expanding its “Color Jailbreak” customization program. New Charger and Durango models shown at Roadkill Nights feature unique finishes like Toxic Orange and custom Tinted Dual Stripes, a translucent stripe treatment that allows the body color to show through rather than simply laying an opaque stripe over the paint.

The result is a more custom appearance that’s straight from the factory and is something Dodge buyers have historically embraced. Between wild paint options, brass-accented Monkey wheels on special Durango models, and increasingly personalized graphics, Dodge seems determined to remind buyers that performance isn’t just about what happens under the hood. Sometimes it’s about making sure everyone notices before you even start the engine.

Roadkill Nights is an annual car culture festival featuring high octane, street-legal drag racing, and celebrations of all things Mopar. Held in Pontiac, Michigan every year, near the historic Woodward Avenue and the M1 Concourse, the event spans a full day of car builder face-offs, professional drag racing, and more.

This year’s events begin on Saturday, August 8 at the M1 Concourse. Unveils ahead of time, like these announcements from Dodge, are often the precursor to the main event.
