General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Cadillac Vistiq vehicles. When the power fold feature is activated, the third-row power seatback may fail to reverse when encountering a person.

Description of defect or noncompliance:
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2026–2027 model year Cadillac VISTIQ vehicles. The third-row seatbacks in these vehicles can be commanded to power fold into the stowed position with a single press-and-release of the “down” control button located in the cargo area or on the pillar adjacent to the seat. The seatback stops and does not automatically reverse if it encounters an obstruction in the seat.

Smaller occupants could become trapped under the seatback, increasing the risk of injury.

Chronology
On March 31, 2026, a GM engineer submitted a report through GM’s Speak Up For Safety (SUFS) program after reviewing an evaluation of the third-row power seatback folding function on a 2026 Cadillac VISTIQ. GM conducted this evaluation after the March 2026 announcement of a recall by a different vehicle manufacturer; this recall related to second- and third-row power seats in certain vehicles failing to appropriately respond to contact with an occupant or object during powered-seat operation.
During the evaluation, the seatback continued its power-folding operation with a 33- to 40-pound box on the seat and stopped in a position that prevented the box from being removed without manually reversing the seat back. In addition to the SUFS subject vehicle, GM is aware of 6 other incidents or complaints potentially associated with this condition. None resulted in injury. These were received by GM on May 1, 2025, June 30, 2025, December 11, 2025, April 14, 2026, and April 17, 2026. On June 11, 2026, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a safety recall.
Remedy

Remedy Type: Replace, Disconnect/Disable
Description of remedy program:
Dealers will replace the folding third row seat module. Until replacement parts are available, vehicles in inventory at dealerships and owners who wish to do so may have the third-row folding feature disabled. When replacement parts are available, the folding feature will be reinstated and updated through a separate customer satisfaction campaign.
How remedy component differs from recalled component:
The replacement folding seat module will automatically return the seatback toward the upright seating position if the seatback encounters loads sufficient to halt the folding operation.
Description of recall schedule:
Dealers will be notified on June 18, 2026. Owner interim notification is estimated to start mailing on August 3, 2026. GM will provide an estimate for owner notification of an available remedy when one is available.
